our founder, Michelle, faced a series of disappointing experiences with traditional mined
diamonds. After investing in an engagement ring and wedding ring that failed to meet her
expectations, Michelle realized the diminishing value of mined diamonds and the lack of
uniqueness in the designs.
In 2021, after losing her wedding ring while traveling abroad, Michelle embarked on a journey to
find a more meaningful and cost-effective solution. Her exploration led her to the bustling
Jewelry Districts of LA and NY, where she discovered lab-grown diamonds—a revolutionary,
ethical, and environmentally responsible alternative to mined stones.
However, Michelle noticed a troubling trend: retailers were charging exorbitant prices for
lab-grown diamonds, mirroring the issues she had encountered with mined diamonds. Driven by
a desire to break this cycle, Grown Gem was born.
